Need help contacting the congregation?

You’re going on vacation or visiting a new area & need to find a congregation in the area. On our end, it’s almost impossible to contact every congregation to confirm what we have on our site is accurate, so sometimes, we don’t have the most accurate information posted on our maps. Just for good measure, it’s always wise to call the congregation to confirm their service times & directions. A few tips:

  • Give them a phone call first before trying to email them; you’ll probably get a better response this way. Of course, if the listed phone number or email address doesn’t work, let us know. If you dial a number, chances are that you’re calling a residence, so be polite, please!
  • Our maps don’t list any contact information? Call other nearby congregations & check if they can help.
  • As always, report back to us with your findings so we can make the necessary updates. Your fellow brethren will love you!

Here’s to you & your safe travels!

New look & some small new features

// October 14th, 2010 // No Comments » // Project updates

Thanks for all your feedback. Keep those comments coming!

As always, in addition to updating our maps with accurate data, we’re trying to upgrade the browsing experience, little by little. As such, with all your feedback & some stats collected, we made some changes which we hope increases the usability of the site. To list a few new things:

  • More map! Except for the top navigation links & logo, the site is almost entirely the map screen. More map real estate for you to explore!
  • Last updated tag. Shows the last time we made an update for a congregation. Almost all the congregation have March 1, 2009 listed, but going forward, this date should be more accurate.
  • No more footer. The important stuff that was in there is moved into each individual map popup window.

Let us know if you have any issues with this new page. We hope you like it!

We’re still collecting feedback & keeping a tally of the most requested features to add. Sit tight—we’ll have them to you shortly!

Locale Maps is down…for now

Update: The site & its maps are back up! We’re still working on finding a more stable service. We’ll keep you updated with our progress.

A big part of the site—the actual map—runs off a website called Mapbuilder.net. As of 9:00pm Pacific, the site is down. Therefore, our maps served on this site are down as well.

We’re currently trying to find a working replacement for this service. We have a team that is rapidly working toward making the site functional again. Sadly, this may possibly require us to re-enter the congregational data again, so this process may take a while. As soon as we find a map service alternative, people who have time for some data entry, we will appreciate your help!

We really do apologize for any inconveniences. For all those on our Facebook fan page, we’ll inform you when the site is back & functional. For everyone else, keep checking back with us!

Socializing at the San Jose Function Hall

// August 4th, 2009 // No Comments » // events

She was my first volunteer to pose with my sign, so this is my token of gratitude.Happy post-95th anniversary! It was very eventful last weekend with many people congregating to celebrate this huge milestone. People from all over California traveled San Jose for the weekend—a good opportunity to meet people & make new friends. San Jose Congregation held a social event in their Function Hall for this very reason. This was a good chance to share this website URL & to meet fans of the site.

I had a team of greeters who went around & asked people if they would photograph with my sign. Everyone was so receptive to the idea & everyone had fun with it.

The full gallery is on my Flickr feed, below. Feel free to post these photos on your Facebook profiles, as long as you get some traffic back to this site! Also, if you’re on Flickr, leave comments of the names that are pictured in the photos & I can add/tag you. Thanks!

Anniversary celebration sites around the world

// July 15th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // celebrations

Anniversary celebration 2009Happy 95th anniversary! The celebration date is drawing near.

In addition to our usual mid-year anniversary celebration with your respective congregations, districts around the world are holding special celebrations to celebrate our 95th anniversary, assembling in locations to accommodate many congregations on July 27th.

Since we’re based in Northern California, we only have the information for our local anniversary celebration site (the HP Pavillion in San Jose, California). If you want your district’s site to be included on the map, we welcome all submissions! Help your fellow brethren!

Worth mentioning—for those who will be attending the celebration in San Jose, we hope to see you there! Be sure to send us your greetings!

Welcome to the new site!

Welcome to our new blog!

// June 19th, 2009 // No Comments » // Project updates

First off, welcome to our new blog! We wanted a mode of communication to show our progression with this labor of love—a blog is probably the best way to do it.

There’s a lot of new things in the pipeline for this project.! Our staff is a bit shorthanded & we all have our day jobs, so updates have been progressing at a snail’s pace. In addition to this blog, another facet to this project is the opening of our new Twitter account! Add us:
